    Olympic pool in Munich, used in the 1972 Olympic Games An Olympic-size swimming pool is the type of pool used in the Olympic Games. The size of the pool is commonly used to define the size of other objects, or to explain how much water is in a particular location. The FINA specifications for an Olympic pool are as follows:

    Olympic pool dimensions Length: 50 m Width: 25 m Number of lanes: 8 Lane width: 2.5 m Water temperature: 25 °C - 28°C (77°F - 82.4°F) Light intensity: >1500 lux Depth: 2.0 m minimum Volume: minimum 2,500 m3 or 2,500,000 liters (depends on depth) There must be two spaces 2.5 m wide outside lanes 1 and 8 (in effect, two empty lanes).
